AutoMine
automated underground loaders and trucks
Sandvik's AutoMine lets underground loaders and haul trucks drive the tunnels on their own using lasers, gyroscopes and learned routes where GPS does not work, while operators in a control room supervise and handle bucket filling. Development began in 1999 and hauling automation was added in 2001; the 38-tonne loader in Sandvik's 2018 film is 11 m long.

Real-world use
After the 2004 South American installation, systems went to mines in North America, Africa (De Beers Finsch) and Europe; Sandvik said its automated loaders had logged over 2 million underground hours by 2018.
