Why it matters

Nissan says it was the first test in Japan of a car with nobody inside driving through a complex city environment on public roads (March 2025).

Real-world use

Five Serenas carried volunteer riders between 26 stops in Yokohama from November 2025 to January 2026 with safety drivers and remote monitoring; Nissan targets Level 4 service from fiscal 2027.
