What’s inside

The parts the company has talked about publicly.

Movement
Stationary
Actuators & motors
Electric joint motors in the right arm (shoulder, elbow, wrist), legs and waist; a Parallel Elastic Actuator spring on the elbow stores energy as the elbow bends and adds to motor torque; motor driver maximum current raised to 100 A.
Hands
Simple ball-releasing hand on a three-axis throwing arm.
Sensors & vision
Joint encoders (the team had to reroute encoder wiring after inverter noise from the 100 A driver caused errors); no cameras or other sensors described.
AI & software
Each joint follows a motion equation set by four parameters; throw parameters tuned with Bayesian optimisation while balancing torque margins across motors; a ball-flight simulation estimating drag and lift set the launch speed needed (16.3 m/s for 24.5 m; achieved 16.4 m/s).
Other details
Leaning the waist back about 10 degrees raised ball speed. Previous CUE record distance was 18 m (2021).
