Why it matters
Kodiak says it was the first to put customer-owned driverless semi trucks into commercial service, after a first driverless frac-sand delivery for Atlas in July 2024.
Real-world use
Atlas ran 28 driverless trucks on 15 routes by 31 March 2026, moving about 7,000 loads and over 450,000 tons of sand; the partners plan 100 trucks by mid-2027 and public-road runs from early 2027 (Atlas/Kodiak, July 2026).
