Torobo

A human-sized semi-humanoid with torque sensors in every arm and waist joint for force-controlled contact work: two 7-axis arms, a 3-axis waist, an optional 3-axis sensor head and an omnidirectional base, about 161.5 cm tall and 120 kg. Payload is 7 kg per arm in the worst posture; orders opened in late 2017 and a lighter new version is under development.

The parts the company has talked about publicly.

Movement
Wheeled base · 24 joints
Actuators & motors
Two 7-axis arms, 3-axis waist (pitch, pitch, yaw), 3-axis neck and 4-axis omnidirectional base; torque sensors in every arm and waist joint for impedance and force control. The 2018-era Torobo Arm used hollow motors from TQ Systems; the 2026 Torobo Hand uses the company's own cycloid reducer.
Hands
In-house back-drivable gripper with grip force set by current limiting; hand or gripper selectable; a 10-axis four-finger Torobo Hand was added in 2026. Payload 7 kg per arm in the worst-case posture.
Sensors & vision
Optional sensor head with ToF depth camera, fisheye camera, wide-angle stereo camera and stereo microphones; joint torque sensors throughout.
Compute
One control PC as standard; optional PCs with NVIDIA RTX 4070 (head sensors) and RTX 5070 (ML training and inference).
Battery & power
Built-in battery, up to about 3 hours; can operate while charging.
Materials & build
1,615 mm tall, about 120 kg, 590 mm wide cart.
AI & software
ROS-compatible with Gazebo, MoveIt trajectory planning, RViz, state machine, logging; simulation models for MuJoCo and NVIDIA Isaac Sim. Shown at iREX 2025 running VLA-model tasks over SoftBank's AI-RAN edge computing.
Other details
Current Torobo listed as a 2022 product on the maker's legacy page; orders for the first human-sized dual-arm Torobo opened at the end of 2017 (upper body about 10 kg on an AGV). Interfaces: digital and analog I/O, 2 Ethernet ports, 24 V tool flange.
